THE Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (Opapp) will hold the "Peace Buzz: Biyaheng Kapayapaan," a peace caravan, in Davao City on September 29 in line with the peace month celebration.
Opapp-Davao Region area manager Oliver Binansilan, during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, September 25, said the Peace Buzz which kicked off last week in Baguio City has passed through several stopovers like the cities of Quezon, Legazpi, Catbalogan, Butuan, and in Davao City.
It will end in Iligan City where the ringing of the Peace Gong will take place to be led by Opapp Secretary Jesus Dureza.
A motorcade will also take place and will showcase the Peace Buzz.
"We will highlight the Peace Buzz, a coaster-like that is painted with peace murals. It is somehow symbolical icon that peace is everywhere. Peace is not only in Davao but peace is for the entire country starting to the North going to the South," he said.
To strengthen the public's knowledge on peace issues, Opapp will also stage a “Huni sa Kalinaw,” a peace concert on the same day in Roxas Boulevard, set at 5:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Several invited local artists from Mindanao will perform to showcase their talents and promote peace.
A film Peacetival and leadership summit for the Bangsamoro will also highlight the event.
"Our objective is to raise consciousness and increase the level of understanding of the communities with regards to the significance of peace. That peace is not only for Opapp, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, youth but it is everyone's responsibility," he said.
This year's theme, "Puso para sa Kapayapaan, Magkaisa para sa Bayan," underscores the unified effort of Filipinos to take part in peace initiatives.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 675 series of 2004, the Peace Month also seeks to sustain institutional and popular support for and participation by the people in building a culture of peace.
He invited the public to join in the celebration.
