DON Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) once again spark their rivalry in the high school division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) as they face off in the championships.
DBTC continued its display of dominance with a 3-0 victory over University of San Carlos (USC) in the semifinals.
Thomas Ramos hit the opener in the 66th minute of the match. It was followed up with a goal by Josh Asignar three minutes later. Clyde Vitualla made it 3-0 with a timely goal in the first minute of added time.
Leo Maquiling scored a brace to lead SHS-AdC to a 2-0 victory over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in the other semifinal match.
Maquiling hit the back of the net in the seventh and 76th minute if the match.
DBTC, which lost to Ateneo in the finals last year, is eager to avenge that loss. It has been very dominant this season easily beating all its opposition. In its only meeting this season, DBTC totally outclassed SHS-AdC, 7-0.
Meanwhile, the University of Cebu (UC) and USPF finally logged their first victories of the season in the collegiate division.
UC came from behind to beat defending champion USC, 2-1.
Venson Nery gave USC the lead in the 20th minute. Rustom Seares, however, scored back-to-back goals in the 30th and 39th minutes to win the match.
After a tough first few matches, USPF finally found its groove and outclassed University of the Visayas (UV), 6-0. Jeralph Tura (32’, 45’), Emil Gumba (4’, 90’) and Jasper Gerarman (34’, 44’) each scored a brace for UV. (EKA)
