Two overtime stretches, but Plastics endure

SHERILLIN Plastics jumped on a slight opening and pounded Harley Davidson in the end game to score a 97-93 double overtime victory in the Crossfit Subtero—Metro Cebu Basketball League Season 1 Competitive Division title last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Harley Davidson was leading all the way only to collapse in the final minute of the regulation period and in the two overtime periods.

They were closest in regulation period, when they had a two-point lead, when Steven Co was slapped with an unsportsmanlike foul for trying to stop Enrico Llanto from scoring on a fast break.

The former two-time Cesafi MVP sank the two crucial free throws in the final two seconds to send the game into overtime after a 72-all score at regulation period.

Harley Davidson once again led, but then collapsed in the final minute that saw Sherillin creeping up to even the game at 83-all to send the match to the second overtime period.

For the third time, Harley Davidson was on the verge of victory as it led by as much as six points, 91-85, in the final two minutes.

However, Sherillin clawed back harder and dropped a 12-2 finishing kick to win the inaugural season title.

Llanto, who led Sherillin to the top finish during the elimination round, scored the game high 33 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Daryle Tan added 25 points for Sherillin Plastics, while Fletcher Galvez was the lone Harley Davidson player to score in double digits with 22 points. (RCM)
