ABOUT 11,500 recruits, including 9,000 in Negros Occidental and 2,500 in Bacolod City, will take oath as members of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in separate rites tomorrow, October 5.
The two events will be held at Victorias City Coliseum for the province and at University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Gym for Bacolod.
Yves Akol, secretary general of PDP-Laban in Negros, said a basic seminar will be held for new party members that will also highlight federalism which President Rodrigo Duterte aims to be realized under his term.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, secretary-general of PDP-Laban secretary general, and Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Clint Aranas, treasurer of PDP-Laban, will be the speakers and officiating officials.
“Federalism is the main objective of the activity and there are already several people pushing for a Negros Island Federal State when federalism is realized,” Akol said.
