A VILLAGE official, a 17-year-old girl and her father were caught in a series of drug busts conducted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas on Wednesday dawn, October 4, in Carcar City, Cebu.
The city police, in a separate operation, also arrested the wife of a detained drug lord and her cohort in Barangay Tuyom around 6:32 p.m. last Tuesday.
Authorities seized P503,300 worth of illegal drugs from the five suspects.
Chief Insp. Randy Korret, the Carcar City police commander, said the suspects they caught in Tuyom were Guerlie Sandoy Dayon and fisherman Roldan Oacan Oamida.
He said Dayon is the wife of Ramilo Dayon, who yielded P23.6 million worth of “shabu” after he was caught by PDEA 7 operatives in a pension house in December last year.
In the PDEA 7-led drug busts, information officer Leia Albiar identified the official as Arvin Campaña Dela Fuente, incumbent councilor of Barangay Can-asujan.
Dela Fuente had been listed as high-value target and could dispose of 200 grams of “shabu” per week in the city.
Albiar said the minor reportedly sourced her supply from her boyfriend, an inmate of National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
Dela Fuente, 45, yielded 50 grams of “shabu” after he was caught in Barangay Poblacion 3.
The contraband has an estimated market value of P250,000.
Dela Fuente, a widower, denied his involvement in drug trafficking and cried during the interview with reporters.
An hour earlier, the PDEA operatives arrested a 17-year-old girl and his father Segundo Navasquez Caballero Jr., 44, were captured in San Isidro, Barangay Perrelos.
Agents confiscated 50 grams of “shabu” with an estimated market value of P250,000.
Suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which sets no bail for persons caught selling shabu.
Meanwhile, Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura warned barangay officials in his city who are into illegal drugs that their days are numbered.
Apura made the reaction after the arrest of Barangay Can-asujan Councilor Arvin Dela Fuente during a buy-bust conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7.
Apura said he received reports that Dela Fuente and another councilor from another barangay is involved in illegal drugs.
He initially warned the two officials to quit their illegal activities, to no avail. (JKV, KAL)
