THE Court of Appeals (CA) Cebu Station disposed of 1,225 cases as of August 2017, which is a bit higher than the average disposal rate in Manila and Cagayan de Oro City.
“This shows that collectively, CA Cebu Station has been performing very well,” said Acting Presiding Justice Remedios Salazar-Fernando in her message during the CA Cebu Station’s 13th-anniversary celebration on Oct. 19.
Fernando also said that the CA Cebu Station recorded the lowest percentages of aging cases older than one or two years.
“This is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and diligence of the justices, lawyers, and employees of the CA Visayas,” she said.
This proves the CA-Visayas is indeed a “good model of a regionalized court” at the appellate level, the magistrate stressed.
“This is consistent with the policy thrust of the government to bring public services closer to the provinces, especially the Visayas and Mindanao, and not focus everything in Metro Manila,” Fernando said.
She commended the leadership of CA-Visayas Executive Justice Gabriel Ingles for maintaining an impressive performance and reputation, as well as strengthening the moral integrity of the appeals court.
“Our ultimate goal is for the CA to be a highly credible court--and all of us from the Manila, Cebu and CDO stations should work hand in hand and do our part,” said Fernando.
The presiding justice also congratulated the personnel and officers of CA-Cebu Station for “far exceeding our expectations and in keeping up with our solemn commitment to the fair and efficient administration of justice.”
