3 dead, 19 hurt in road accidents

THREE persons were dead while 19 others were injured in separate road accidents in Negros Occidental over the weekend.

Police identified the fatalities as Genesis Java, 29, of Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran; Carlos Miguel Ello, 15, of Barangay Marina, Binalbagan; and Jay-R Jinon, 24, of Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia.

Injured were Celso Berondo Jr. 35, of Barangay Zone 1, Murcia; Reynaldo Flores Camatcho Flors, 63; Ma. Elmera Villano Fuentes, 22; Nivo Abellar, 20; Iza Santosidad Espinosa, 30; Wilfredo Gulmatico, 59; Edieza Adlawan Patriarca, 39; Jeremy Patriarca, 39; Willard Aleman, 22; Renalyn Jayobo, 33; Rochean Barbasa, 31; Kia Mana Lim, 20; Edgar Lim, 53 and the six minors, all residents of Silay City.

On Sunday afternoon, Lim was driving the public utility jeepney loaded with 18 passengers when the vehicle experienced a mechanical problem. This led the driver to lose control of the vehicle and bumped into the Toyota pickup which was parked along the road.

Lim along with his 18 passengers sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Silay City.

Later that day, another accident occurred at Barangay Salvacion, Murcia.

Jinon was driving his Suzuki motorcycle when he bumped Berondo, who was also on board a Honda motorcycle.

Both drivers swerved to the left side of the road and sustained multiple injuries, police records showed.

They were rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center where Jinon was declared dead on arrival.

In Hinigaran, Java was driving his Bajaj motorcycle with his back rider Ello traveling when they bumped into the Isuzu Cargo truck parked in the area on Saturday night, the police said.
