THE Department of Education (DepEd) in Eastern Visayas generated on Friday, May 4, a total of 38 partnership agreements and P200,439,066 worth of donation during the launching of its "Roadshow for Partnerships in Education" at the Leyte Academic Center in Palo, Leyte.

Eden A. Dadap, DepEd project development officer IV, called the outcome of the event as "a blessing" after the region continued to successfully market and advocate partnership with local stakeholders for various regional and division initiatives.

Dadap said there were 300 participants coming from both public and private stakeholders who came to the event.

“This activity is a venue for DepEd and our stakeholders to strengthen existing partnerships and give awareness to stakeholders of DepEd's resource gaps in which they may or they can contribute,” Ann Codera-Nichols, Leyte division education program specialist II for Social Mobilization and Networking Unit, told SunStar in an interview.

The roadshow enabled the education sector in the region to strengthen the partnership skills of the division Adopt-A-School Program and Brigada Eskwela coordinators.

Also, it served as a mechanism to help address the areas that need support among public schools, increase the number of pledges or commitments from stakeholders, and generate additional resources from various donors.

The roadshow activity was graced by Tonisito Umali, DepEd undersecretary for Legislative Liaison Office, External Partnerships Service, and School Sports; Leyte Governor Dominico Petilla; municipal mayors; and officials from 13 schools divisions in Eastern Visayas. (SunStar Philippines)
