CEBU NORTH GENERAL HOSPITAL (NGH) unveiled on Saturday its newest facility, a Mother and Child Center, a week before the international celebration of Mother’s Day.
The new, 50-bed center is a birthing and pediatrics center that brings the total hospital capacity to 202 beds.
NGH is a member-hospital of the Larrazabal-led CebuDoc Group, which said it had invested P10 million to set up the center.
The Mother and Child Center is a concept unique in Talamban area that is hospital-based, said CebuDoc Group chairman and president Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal III.
“We are positioning NorthGen as a family-oriented hospital,” he said.
The center provides prenatal, natal, and post-natal services, as well as infant care.
Larrazabal disclosed the center offers an affordable maternity package starting at P7,500, reportedly the cheapest in the Visayas.
“The Privileged Mother’s Service (PMS) premium delivery package is the hospital’s way to reach out to both middle- and low-income families who would want to save money for medical expenses incurred during pregnancy and delivery,” said Dr. Ma. Janet Porcia, NGH medical director.
She assured, though, that the low price doesn’t mean a different quality of service for women who avail themselves of this package. The center offers facilities and services with a tailored setting for mothers to heal while nurturing their newborns.
Larrazabal said they have designed the new center to have a seamless and efficient flow from check-ups to labor to delivery.
“This is our way to reach out to the community we are in and for us to become part of this community,” said Larrazabal, adding that aside from the Mother and Child Center, they have also redesigned some of their rooms and facilities to make these more affordable.
NGH now also offers executive health check-ups and has opened a pharmacy inside the hospital.
Danilo Cristobal, NGH assistant administrator, said the Mother and Child Center is staffed by a well-rounded team of obstetricians and gynecologists, pediatricians, midwives, and nurses.
Larrazabal said they working on giving each hospital a unique identity, and hinted that the group will be launching a trauma center and aesthetic center in the coming months.
Earlier, the group embarked on a P200-million three-phase expansion of Mactan Doctors’ Hospital and revealed they have earmarked P1 billion to facilitate the expansion programs of its other member-hospitals within five years.
