CAGAYAN de Oro City pride John Rey Tumanda placed third in the Dipolog Triathlon 105 last Sunday, May 6, in Dipolog City.
The 28-year-old Tumanda barely trailed by three minutes with eventual winner Joland Ornelia of Cebu City’s Omega PRO in the 25-29 male age-group level of the long distance event.
Ornelia finished the race in two hours, 57 minutes and 12 seconds; while fellow Cebuano Jorry Ycong clocked 2:59:14 to claim the second place with
Tumanda of Tri-Snd Barracuda checking in at 3:00:54.
Tumanda, a traffic enforcer from the city’s Roads and Traffic Administration, said Ycong was the over-all champion in the all-Filipino elite 70.3 Ironman Alveo Davao leg last March 25.
“I feel happy with the result kay sakit akong shoulder before the competition. Medyo nakadikit `ta kay Ycong so, excited ko na maka-race siya in the all-Filipino elite next time around,” said Tumanda, who resides in brgy. Bonbon along with his more illustrious triathlete Banjo Norte.
Before the Dipolog race, Tumanda ruled the Mapawa trail run in Cagayan de Oro last week.
Tumanda thanked his patrons Mayor Uloy Dimaporo and Sami Dimaporo for their unwavering support.
