ATSUKO Kaiyel Tan captured two gold medals to save the day for the Association for the Advancement of Karate (AAK) Davao in the recently-concluded 2018 SM Super Karate Kids Championships at the Mountain Wing, SM Seaside City in Cebu.

AAK Davao also brought home three silvers and four bronzes.

Atsuko, daughter of AAK Davao chief Rommel Tan, topped the girls six to eight years old kata and kumite division events.

Her feats came on the heels of winning a silver in the six to eight years old girls kata category of the 10th Kota Kinabalu Open Karate Championships held at the SM Luk Yuk Hall in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

"It was a great experience for the kids. There were just things we needed to improve since the last time we participated in the same event in 2010," the AAK-Davao chief.

Janna Ramirez, Stephen James Catagena and Lanz Banda each copped one silver. The latter added one bronze.

2018 Private School Athletic Association (PRISAA) double gold medalist Darlene Ross Maramara, Julian Ambrose Ramirez and Vince Banda also pocketed one bronze each.

Rommel thanked Jay and Joanne Ramirez, Vic and Olive banda, Jas Perez, Richard Lu and Sharon Cartagena as well as the AAK-Davao parents for their support.

AAK Davao will next compete in Korea in June and in Thailand in July.
