PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte continues to show support to the Filipino athletes and will grace the opening ceremony of the 2018 Philippine National Games (PNG) tomorrow, May 19, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
Duterte, who has been visible in national sporting events, will give his message to over 3,000 athletes for PNG. He also attended the opening ceremony of the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Sur last month.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, PSC Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez and 2017 Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz will also attend the opening ceremony.
The lightning of Urn of Peace and Unity will be led by PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez together wit the Sports Heroes and the Olympic prospects.
The hosting of PNG marks as the first for Cebu after 21 years. The first time Cebu hosted the multi sporting meet was in 1997.
The sporting events that will be competed are athletics, archery, arnis, badminton, boxing, chess, cycling, dancesports, judo, karatedo, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, lawn tennis, triathlete, volleyball (indoor and beach) and weightlifting. (RSC)
