Davao City mayor arriving in Bacolod on June 18

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will be in Bacolod City on June 18 for the commemoration of the 80th year signing of the Charter of Bacolod City.

Other government officials will also be invited for the 120th Philippine Independence Day celebration in the city.

Councilor Em Ang, co-chairperson of the 120th Philippine Independence Day committee, said Thursday, May 17, that they are still finalizing the names of the guest of honor for the Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

She said from June 1 to 20, several activities will be held at the Government Center such as photo exhibits on the significant events of the city.

On June 12, there will be a parade and program at the public plaza.

On June 18, the city will also hold the groundbreaking of its welcome area at the boundary of Bacolod and Talisay along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road and the inauguration of Sum-ag River Esplanade in Barangay Sum-ag.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier issued Executive Order 11, organizing the support committees for the 120th Philippine Independence Day celebration and the commemoration of the 80th year of the signing of the Charter of Bacolod City.

Leonardia said the 120th Philippine Independence Day on June 12 and the commemoration of the 80th year of the signing of the Charter of Bacolod City on June 18 fall on the same month of the year, and all significant events as defined by ordinances and tradition are organized by the City Government, particularly officials and employees thereof whose active participation is essential to the success and significance of said celebrations.
