Mayor Moreno wishes PNG-bound Oro bets good luck

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno wishes the “best of luck” the city bets to the 2018 Philippine National Games (PNG) on May 19 to 25 in Cebu City.

Moreno hosted a send-off dinner for the 77-man Oro delegation on Tuesday night at the Rosario Pavillion, Limketkai Complex.

“I wish all of you the best of luck,” Moreno told the athletes who left Friday for the Queen City of the South.

The city’s boxing team, which made impressive showing in the Amateur Boxing Mindanao Championships and the recent Palarong Pambansa, will banner the whole delegation.

“Indeed, dako kaayo ang panglantaw ni Mayor sa atong boxing team kay sige dala og dungog,” said Rocky Calingin, the newly appointed City Sports overseer.

According to Calingin, the mayor also expressed optimism that his administration did what is right to help local boxing development.

The boxing team is composed of Sheera Jacinto, Mark Lumbab, Marvin Dannel, John Paul Panuayan, Sugar Rey Ocana, James Ian Pangga and Jordge Nuez.

It also has Lema Baja, Elaide Pamisa, Mark Lester Durens, John Ignatius Macas, Wesley Caga and former Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Marvin Tabamo.

Aside from boxing, the city has also PNG entries in athletics, chess, karatedo, swimming, table tennis and volleyball events.

The city’s taekwondo team declined, owing to lack of practice.
