Marine soldier survives gun attack

A MARINE soldier has survived, although wounded, in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police said Saturday, May 19.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the victim as Sergeant Fredencio Braba, 41, a Marine soldier assigned in Tawi-Tawi province.

The police said Braba was on his way home aboard a pedicab at 7:40 p.m. Friday when shot by a lone gunman in San Roque village.

The police said the suspect pursued Braba and opened fire again but missed as the victim, who was wounded, managed to run towards his residence.

The suspects fled on foot to Upper Calarian, an adjacent village of San Roque.

The police said investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive and possibly arrest the suspect behind the incident.

Braba was admitted at one of the local hospitals for treatment. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
