REBISCO, in partnership with Balibolista de Dabaw, will hold the 2018 Rebisco Volleyball League Regional Finals girls 18 and below in Davao City this June 2 to 4.
Southern Mindanao coordinator Abet Beran announced in last Thursday's edition of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the Annex of SM City Davao.
"The winner of the regional finals will represent Southern Mindanao in the National Finals slated this November at the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig City against other regional champions and two other international teams," he added.
A qualifying leg in Mati City on May 21-22; Digos City on May 23-24; Tagum City on May 25-26; and Davao City on May 27-30 will be arranged before the regional finals. The top two teams to emerge in the Mati, Digos, and Tagum legs will earn an automatic slot to the regional finals while the top four teams in the Davao City leg will advance as well.
"We make it four teams sa Davao City kasi tayo yung mag host so hindi problem yung transportation and lodging expenses unlike doon sa ibang malalayong city," Bernan clarified.
Rebisco, according to Bernan, aims to open more doors and avenue for marginalized sectors such as the out-of-school-youth and other local talents to unveil their volleyball skills.
"Rebisco would want to give chance to those aspiring volleyball players na hindi enrolled thats why each team is allowed to field guest players who are out-of-school-youth or yung mga huminto na mag laro for as long as 18 years old and below sila," Bernan added.
