IN A bid to bring government services closer to the people and more accessible even in the far flung areas, the 20th Inter-Agency Serbisyo Caravan was held last Friday, May 18 at Barangay Colosas, Paquibato District, Davao City.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio led the Serbisyo Caravan initiated by the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (Arena) in Davao Region.
“Very positive ang initiative sa Arena for their Serbisyo Caravan because they chose Paquibato here in Barangay Colosas, which is maraming problem particular structure, so nakita sa mga national agencies ang problema at kailangan tulungan,” the mayor said.
She said there are still problems being raised to them by the residents in Paquibato especially livelihood and infrastructure.
Duterte-Carpio added that with the launching of Peace 911, it will now be address these issues. Part of the initial plan of the Peace 911 is the creation of a cooperative for the community there.
A pulong-pulong or dialogue was also held during the caravan and served as a venue where the residents can raises the issues they are experiencing in the area.
During the Inter-Agency Serbisyo Caravan, medical, dental, civil registration services, and educational and skills training were also held.
The government agencies also turned-over goods and services that were pre-determined as priority needs of the barangay.
Duterte-Carpio also led the distribution of school supplies, farm inputs, scholarship program, and even land titles.
Aware of the presence of members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in the area, this is also the government’s way to win back the trust and confidence of the community.
Duterte-Carpio, meanwhile, urged the NPA members to lay down their arms as the government is willing to welcome them provided that they will cut their ties with the communist group.
The activity was also graced by Secretary Francis Tolentino, the Political Adviser of the President.
