Council seeks deeds of 2015 sale of SRP land

THE Cebu City Council wants to have a copy of the deed of sale of the combined 45.2 hectares in the South Road Properties (SRP) that were sold to three property developers in 2015.

In an executive session last week, the Council sought a clarification on the status of the construction of the sports arena in the SRP.

Councilor Margarita Osmeña asked if there was really a resolution to authorize the mayor to sign the deed of sale, apart from the authority to sell the lots.

Lawyer Salvador Peña said the construction of the sports arena has yet to start because the development permit of the project has not been issued since the its application last May 4, 2016.

Peña said the developers followed up on the status of the application of the development permit before the City Planning and Development Office.

“There was a response saying that the action on the development permit has been deferred because of issues of another property that is being developed by one of the parties,” he said.

The construction was supposed to have started last March 2016.

Last July 21, 2015, the City awarded 45.2 hectares combined in the SRP to the consortium of Ayala Land Inc. and SM Prime Holdings Inc., as well as Filinvest Land Inc. The deal was closed for P16.76 billion. Of the group, Filinvest later rescinded its purchase of the property from the City Government. (RVC)
