BALINGASAG beauty Berjayneth Chee, Misamis Oriental’s bet for this year’s Miss Philippines Earth, stood out at the coronation night of the pageant last Saturday, May 19, as she was crowned Miss Earth Water 2018.
Chee was expected to land in the top 5 spot as she already shone in the pre-pageant competition, bagging the Best in Evening Long Gown and the bronze medal for the Cultural Attire Competition.
Chee, 18, is an incoming college student.
According to her profile on the Miss Philippines Earth website, Chee loves to explore the different eco-tourism spots in the country.
The Balingasag beauty is no stranger to the pageant industry being a finalist before of Miss Millennial, a beauty pageant held in a noontime television show.
During the Miss Earth pageant last Saturday, all top 5 finalists were asked the same question: “The deterioration of Boracay left our President with no choice but to close the island for rehabilitation, what should be done to make sure that what happens to Boracay does not happen to our other tourist destinations?”
Chee said one must learn to respect and take care of every tourist spot in the country and the Earth, saying it is the only home of the human race.
“We all know that Boracay is such a beautiful paradise here in the Philippines with white sand beaches and crystal blue waters it is our home and also a home to other people,” she said.
“What we must do in order to make sure that the other tourist places here in the Philippines won’t suffer Boracay’s fate is that we must respect this place, we must respect our home because at the end of the day, our home is our earth and we must do everything to save our earth,” she added.
