DISMISSED employees of the Talisay City government led by its president, Corazon Robles sought the suspension of Mayor Neil Lizares for alleged grave misconduct and violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

They were former regular employees of the city whose employment was confirmed by the Civil Service Commission last February and second week of March 2016.

But when Lizares assumed the post, he terminated them on August 9, 2016.

Despite the issuance of a resolution from the Civil Service Commission ordering their reinstatement, Lizares, according to the dismissed employees who held a press conference yesterday, May 21, at the Negros Press Club Office, has refused to follow the order of the CSC until today, May 22.

On December 8, 2017, they filed an administrative and criminal complaint against Lizares before the Ombudsman Visayas.

He was directed to file his counterclaims.

They also called on President Rodrigo Duterte to perform his promise that he will not tolerate corruption in the government office.

They also called on the Ombudsman to issue a preventive suspension against the chief executive.

The mayor is set to give his comment on the matter.
