Alarcon not yet cleared by Tay Tung, says coach

CONTRARY to the news articles claiming Harold Alarcon as National University’s newest Bullpup, Thunderbolts head coach Dexter Dy Monday, May 21, said that the 6-foot-1 wingman is not yet cleared with Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

“How can he be a Bullpup when his academic records are still with Tay Tung? In fact, he has yet to complete his academic requirements with the school thus, his records cannot be released,” Dy said.

“Moreover, we considered his action disrespectful to the Tay Tung’s Board of Trustees who allowed him to take part in the Elite 60 Development Camp,” he added.

Dy further stressed that Alarcon did not tell them that he will be shifting school.

“We only knew it when we saw him play in the NU jersey."

He should have approached us and discussed this issue. We also tried to reach him but he’s not answering our calls and text messages,” the mentor added.

Tay Tung team manager Roger Montalbo described Alarcon’s action as “absent without leave.”

Alarcon, who will be on his 10th grade this school year, has been with Tay Tung since his seventh grade and has been one of Thunderbolts main players during the 2018 National Basketball Training Center Nationals as well as in the Jr. NBA All-Star, and Milo Olympics.

“He has been with us for three consecutive years where he became known and received awards by representing Tay Tung, including the ‘best player’ award in NBTC All-Star,” Dy said. (HGD)
