Marvil: No to ‘hospital holiday’

THE City Council through Committee on Ethics, Governmental Affairs and Personnel Chair Councilor Joel Alangsab has approved a resolution inviting in aid of legislation the regional director of PhilHealth-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the authorized representatives of the four private hospitals namely; Baguio Filipino-Chinese General Hospital, Notre Dame De Chartres Hospital, Pines City Doctor’s Hospital, and Saint Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart with regard to the threat of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAP) for a “hospital holiday” in view of the estimated P9-billion unpaid obligations of PhilHealth which is causing concerns to the people of Baguio particularly those members of PhilHealth.

The resolution stated that the threatening statement was made by PHAP president Dr. Rustico Jimenez during a recent media interview.

The measure quantified that the aforementioned four private hospitals are vital to the City of Baguio as well as the other nearby towns and provinces in view of the fact that there is only one government hospital operating in the city which would jeopardize the medical services not only in the city but including the Cordillera Region if such scenario will indeed push through.

The Department of Health and representatives from the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center were invited to attend the said dialogue during the regular council session on June 4, 2018.
