Motoomull: Living everyday is an art

THIS is about living life everyday with enough meaning and effort to make being alive worthwhile.

Basically, we go through our life either happy or cranky. Maybe some of us feel that they have missed out on many opportunities and are therefore resigned to an existence of waiting to just get older and eventually die.

Some of us also may harbor regrets; they say no to most challenges that will take them out from their comfort zones. They are not up to taking new adventures, learning or new skills. The spark has long left them and they have narrowed the space where they wish to spend their remaining energies.

But there are others who never seem to want to retire or fade away. They want to continue learning, growing and trying new stuff that will bring out something they have not discovered about themselves or life itself.

How then can we acquire living life everyday with enough meaning and effort to make being alive worthwhile?

We appreciate art in its original expression (living everyday is an art also) because it cleanses our soul and clears the way we notice things, especially with our five senses.

We keep fit as we can. In general, our bodies at 40 years old will be the best it can be. Whatever shape we are in now, it is always good for the body to keep active: move, walk, run, and jump. Go to the gym if you can. Do exercises consistently.

We live and act appropriately according to our means. Actually, as we get older, we live with less for oneself, generosity for others because we learn to let go of unimportant things. We remind ourselves that we can’t take materials things with us when we die. Everything is perishable except love which is the only real, enduring thing in the world when all is said and done.

We take up a hobby or a cause where we can throw our time and passion with great abandon. The mere commitment to anything that gives us delight and joy is an act of longevity. And if we wish to live long, we might as well live life with enough meaning and purpose.

Fortunately for eight years now, I consider my lifestyle writing every second and fourth Wednesday of the month as a cause where I can throw my time and passion with great abandon. I’m happy I serve a continuous growing of wisdom among us. What about you?

We celebrate the good things that have happened and let go of the bad stuff. We invest in things that pay, not in those that keep us hooked but offer no payback. We move on and learn to sincerely forgive oneself and others with our limitations.

There is also more to how we look at ourselves objectively, this simple discovery can change everything. When choices are given to us, we may take the one we haven’t tried yet, as long as it is lawful and not harmful to our well-being. It may turn out to be a great discovery when we give our self-confidence and real talent all we’ve got.

We always remember to pray to our Merciful God that we don’t get discouraged in our struggle to fight our lack of desire or ability to move or change and continue to live creatively.
