Ceres Negros FC faces Davao Aguilas tonight

Ceres Negros FC is looking to bounce back from their last defeat at home as the Busmen host visiting Davao Aguilas FC tonight, Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. in the 2018 Philippines Football League at the Panaad Park and Stadium, Bacolod City.

Ceres, with five wins and a loss in this tourney and recently earned a spot in the AFC Asean Zonal finals, also aims to take back the league’s top post.

Currently on top is Kaya FC Iloilo with five wins, a draw, and pair of defeats.

The Younghusband siblings-led Aguilas, meanwhile, are hoping to avenge their 2-0 loss to Ceres FC in their first face-off and also to end their losing streak.

Ceres FC recently apologized to Philippine Football Federation, and the Philippines Football League for statements made by Martin Steuble during the AFC Cup Zonal semi-final post-match interview.

“The club regrets that the player’s comments aired at the conclusion of the live broadcast of the match and amplified on social media have not only put the PFF but the PFL in a negative light,” the club said.

CNFC added that while it encourages its players to exercise their freedom to speak, particularly on matters that they are passionate about, Steuble’s statements do not reflect that of the club.

“The club is grateful to the PFF and the PFL for setting up a structure that allows Filipino clubs to represent the country in continental competitions like the AFC Cup and the AFC Champions League,” the statement said.

If not for the PFF and PFL, Ceres-Negros would not have reached its goal of making the country proud by winning the AFC Cup Asean zonal title last year, the club added.

Ceres FC also assured that necessary action will be taken to avoid a repetition of such incident.
