Man injured in shooting

A MAN was injured after he was shot by an unidentified assailant in front of a sari-sari store at Barangay 8 in Bacolod City early Tuesday, May 22.

Police identified the victim as Reynaldo Pescadero, 29, of Barangay Vista Alegre.

Police records showed that Pescadero was sitting in front of a sari-sari store when a blue Mitsubishi Adventure stopped, with the assailant fired at him.

The assailant fled while the victim was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias Jr., said there were reports claiming that the victim was an alleged asset of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) but it is still subject for verification.

Villarias also said they are checking the background of the victim after they saw a conversation on alleged drug transaction on his cellular phone.

"We are still validating if he is under a drug watchlist," Villarias added.

Meanwhile, two persons were collared at Magsaysay Avenue, Barangay Taculing for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition while riding a motorcycle with no plate number and helmet yesterday.
