Oro ups gold take to five in PNG

CEBU CITY--Cagayan de Oro City closed the fourth day of action with another gold along with three silvers and four bronzes in the ongoing 2018 Philippine National Games here.

Team CdeO now has five golds, four silvers and nine bronzes in the bag as of yesterday.

Finally, the city’s swimming team won a gold in the final day of the swimming event.

The Oro women’s swimming team of Tanya Barero, Kasmia Sogoc, Stephanie Asil and Lydel Puklawan took the feat in the 4x100 women’s relay freestyle and earlier a silver in the 4x50 women’s medley relay.

“Lipay ko kay naka-gold ra gyud kami sa swimming ug mao pa kini ang kina-last pa gyud nga event,” said coach Edgardo Maut.

Jose Marie Nave, a prize swimmer from Cagayan de Oro National High School, also gave a silver from the 200 meters men’s freestyle and a bronze from the 50 meters freestyle yesterday.

The 17-year-old Nave also had two bronzes in the 400 meters and 100 meters men’s back stroke.

Athletics bet Lexmar Cupin claimed his second silver after landing second place in the youth men’s javelin throw.

Asil, on the other hand, was already giving the delegation with two bronzes before she had to compete again in the team relay.

Sarah Catacutan sealed the last bronze of the day for CdeO after placing third in the senior women’s triple long jump.
