ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Jacob Cajita etched his name in Cebu Country Club (CCC) history after becoming the youngest CCC Junior Club champion, needing only 20 holes to beat 10-year-old Jun Ochiai in the finals yesterday.
Cajita, seeded second in the tournament, defeated Ochiai, 18 and 17, to take over Peter Tyler Po as champion of the Jungolf division. Cajita defeated Jun’s older brother Tatsu, 4 and 3, while Ochia got a seat to the 36-hole finals after top seed Joaquin Velez withdrew from the tournament.
With his current title, Cajita joins a elite list of recent CCC jungolf champions in Peter Tyler Po, Gen Nagai, Lloyd Jefferson Go and Charles Hong. (ML)
