Maritime Academy wins Bataan Aids advocacy float parade

BALANGA CITY -- Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) won first place in the Advocacy Float Parade in line with the Philippine International Aids Candlelight Memorial 2018 held recently in Balanga City.

Its entry dubbed “MV Awareness” bested 10 other contenders bringing home a certificate and P20,000 cash prize.

In an interview, MAAP president vice admiral Eduardo Santos said their students are continuously supporting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention by conducting various activities like seminars and counseling.

“We support HIV awareness and prevention, and in fact, we have this student organization called Hi V that advocates education to students on HIV and safe sex practice,” Santos added.

Samal town placed second receiving a certificate and P15,000 cash prize while the Bataan Treatment and Rehabilitation Center ended third with a certificate and P10,000 cash prize.

Spearheaded by Department of Health and Provincial Government of Bataan, the parade aims to create awareness on HIV and educate the public to further prevent the rising number of people infected with it. (PIA-Central Luzon)
