CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mayor Edwin Santiago of this city encouraged the new village chiefs during a courtesy call at city hall to work harmoniously and stay away from trouble.
“Work harmoniously in line with the City Government’s programs and most of all, stay away from trouble.” The newly elected barangay officials were also oriented on policies and guidelines on governance.
“As new leaders of your respective villages, you must align your programs and projects with that of the city government similar to how we align our programs with the national and provincial governments. All these of course, will be according to policies and guidelines set by law and regulating agencies like the Commission on Audit. You will be at the very core of governance so it is important that you work harmoniously towards the achievement of our goals and realization of our vision for San Fernando,” he said.
Santiago said that the new village chiefs should stay away from “trouble.”
“Stay away from trouble. Stay away from corruption. As your local chief executive, I will not tolerate nor will be forgiving of any misconduct in your offices. Remember, our mandate is to serve with all honesty and dedication. Of course, if there is anything you need for viable projects or programs, the city government will support you. In fact, for starters, Governor Lilia Pineda, upon our request, will give you brand new garbage trucks for your solid waste management program. Again, I reiterate, stay away from trouble,” he said.
Santiago then rallied the new officials to serve Fernandinos to the best of their abilities and resources.
“Never forget, it is always Fernandino first!” he said.
