Tagum: Robbers will get what they deserve

ROBBERS lurking in Davao City will find their worst nightmares as the police maximize their security measures to apprehend these criminals.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum issued this warning Thursday, May 24, amid the series of robbery incidents that transpired in the city in the past days.

Tagum said he already directed station commanders to increase their effort to curb this perennial crime in their respective area of responsibilities.

“They [police station commanders] will intensify their unit's efforts against these identified crime gangs. We've already arrested or neutralized previous suspects, although some identified were still subjects of our manhunt operations but we've already filed appropriate criminal cases in court,” he said.

Based on their record from January to December 2017, there has been a drop in robbery incidents to 200 as compared to 337 in the same period in the previous year.

“We will stop them by all means necessary,” Tagum said.

He said for this year, there were eight robbery suspects who were killed while resisting the arresting operatives.

Over the weekend, two women were a victim of robbery in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City where one was critically wounded after she was stabbed by the attacker while inside a burger stall where she was working. The robbers carted away P7,000 and are still at large.

The other incident involved a saleslady who was on her way home. She was held up by a man wielding a kitchen knife. Taken from her were one unit Cloud Phone worth P2,000 and cash money worth P300. The victim was still able to fight back, grab the knife and stab the robber in the left arm, but the robber was able to run away.

The suspect in that incident was arrested on Monday, May 21 after he was positively identified by the victim.
