A DRESS is just a dress, or is it? For every cut done, every detail added and every embellishment breathes a fine finish and tells a tale as told by the storyteller—that would be the designer.

Fashion designer Bree Esplanada presents a collection in dark and light colors in classic and modern fashion with a mysterious touch.

“I wanted to show variety in my pieces. It’s like the light colors are peeking out from the dark pieces; a romantic narrative that I want to show since I’m using sleek long gowns,” he said. “The techniques of mixed media was applied in the collection from different materials like tulle, lace, brocade, neoprene and cotton in one piece.”

Also, Bree shared that from the designs down to the backdrop enveloped in foliage, it was inspired by a world renowned writer and artist known for his distinctive works like pen and ink drawings and books portraying unsettling narratives.

“The inspiration was from the American writer and illustrator Edward Gorey. My love for his illustration gave me the drive to creative this collection, as was the theme,” said Bree. “The theme of the shoot was strongly influenced by the scenes from the illustrations of Edward Gorey.”

Envisioning a woman of elegance and versatility, the collection presents bridal pieces and formal wear with mystery and romance bursting through the seams.
