Governor Marañon is in good health says acting Negros province admin

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea assured the Negrenses yesterday, May 24, that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. is in good health.

Gelvolea said the governor has “fully recovered because he may have felt really tired last weekend especially with the hot weather that we are experiencing right now.”

She clarified the speculation that the governor was admitted in a hospital and is not in good condition.

This came after Marañon skipped last Sunday’s activity in Talisay City where President Rodrigo Duterte led the groundbreaking of the 15-hectare housing project for the police and the army in the province.

Gelvolea admitted that Marañon was hospitalized, but only stayed there overnight.

"He was hospitalized so he can have rest. Otherwise, he will still go around and inspect the different projects of the government," she said.

During his hospitalization, he also underwent an executive check-up, she added.

Gelvolea also said that work at the Capitol was not affected despite the fact that the governor has not been reporting since Monday, May 21.

"Many could attest that checks are signed and released on time," she said, adding that "it is because the governor keeps on signing documents and checks even when he was at the hospital and now when he is at home."

Our phones are also open so he could call and give instructions and ask questions, she said.

But, the personal courtesy calls are not allowed for now, only those that needs his personal presence, she added.

"There is no need for Negrenses to worry about the condition of the governor. He will finish his term. God has appointed him to be the leader of the province. He is in good hands," she said.
