Spiritual-religious gems for Maryjayne on the lanes

OUR family, especially my loving wife Consuelo Sol, are more than happy that the cremated remains of our departed daughter, Maryjayne, is back with us in our modest home on the mountain slopes of Benin, Pinsao Proper Barangay, since May 17. It was brought home from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA by a friend. Coming back home was her final wish before she said goodbye, from a hospice facility on March 21. In vain, she fought bravely the Big C.

Since she arrived here, our family held a Rosary Hour every night as part of our spiritual-religious activities, dedicated to her. On Sunday, May 27, a Holy Mass in her honor will be celebrated at the Shrine of the Brown Madonna along Km. 7, Asin Road, Tuba, Benguet. The National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB), Formatuer of San Pablo Seminary at Barangay Crystal Cave Holy Shrine’s and the Spiritual Adviser Rev. Fr. Alejandro Bangilan will be the celebrant. The Holy Eucharist is set at 10:00 am with a candlelight and floral offering with members our family and close friends of Ling May at the fore. The urn will be entombed at the Baguio Cemetery.

Again, we are inviting and reminding her former classmates from the Saint Louis Girl’s High School, from the Baguio General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1978, her co-employees at the City hall (where she served as City Tourism Director for nearly a decade before she left for the United States for greener pastures in the late 1980s).

Also, we are inviting the former members of the Baguio Pangkat Silayan and the Igorots on the Road Cultural Troupe, who played a key role in the tourism promotion programs of Magandang Baguio in the 70s and the 80s, to join us at the Shrine. My wife and I organized the cultural troupe when yours truly was the City Tourism Director. My wife at that time was a floor supervisor at the Hyatt Terraces Hotel, a five-star hotel in the city. Unfortunately, the hotel was devastated to bits and pieces by the killer earthquake of July 16, 1990, which claimed lives and properties in many parts of Northern Luzon. At least 78 people died at Hyatt ruins. At that time, I was a correspondent photographer of the Daily Globe, one of the leading national dailies in the country. I have vast newspaper clippings of my coverages.

Again, we would like to thank all our friends and relatives residing in Uncle Sam’s domain for the Holy Masses they offered for Ling May. The first one was held in Nevada while the second one was held in California. Again, maraming salamat po sa inyong kagandahang loob! God bless!
