Apo Ni Lola: Newest angel of hospital’s burn unit

DAVAO City-based entrepreneur Apo Ni Lola Durian Delicacies has not only perfected the taste of their goodies, but also kindness and generosity.

For at least a decade now, the company has continuously won the hearts (or I must say, the taste buds) of so many consumers, especially tourists who have always considered Durian and Mangosteen in various forms as pasalubong. The number of clients visiting them daily has been consistently growing because of their products’ quality and their undeniable good customer relations.

While it has been the company’s commitment to continuously innovate – from improving the taste of their current products to finding new flavors to offer, Apo Ni Lola appears to be motivated and determined as well to give back to the community by adopting the Mindanao Burn Center as the beneficiary of their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Apo Ni Lola has been extending help to the center since 2016 through the Padyak Para Kay Boyd team. The latter is a group of media practitioners and philanthropists who have been pooling their resources together at least a decade now to help the patients of the Mindanao Burn Center inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

When the company celebrated its anniversary in March, its owner, Arnel Raakin, decided to donate part of their durian spread earnings to the center. Through the company’s operations manager, Imee Marie Añabesa-Acopiado, they contacted the center’s founder, Dr. Rizal Aportadera, regarding their plan.

Recently, Apo Ni Lola turned over some monetary help to the center. Little it may be, it can already go a long way to serve the patients who have no capacity to support their medical requirements, particularly the highly needed flammacerium cream.

Aside from cash, they also distributed samples of their durian delicacies for the patients and their watchers to enjoy.

Kudos to Apo Ni Lola for making kindness and generosity a fashion statement that must never get outdated!

(If you want to become a Mindanao Burn Center angel, please contact one of its nurses, Helly Olivares, at 0933-8731601. You may contact Dr. Aportadera directly as well at his office in Maharlika Charity Foundation through landline number (082) 221-6447.)
