Sandiganbayan junks Oca’s `motion to quash’

CAGAYAN de Oro City opposition councilor Leon Gan on Friday, May 25, said the Sandiganbayan has denied the “motion to quash” filed by Mayor Oscar Moreno in connection with the lease contract agreement entered into by the city government for the City Sports Development Program (CSDP) last 2013.

Gan, an ally of former Puntod village chief Marvin Beja who filed the case, said they were informed by the Office of the Ombudsman yesterday and they’re still waiting for the copy of the anti-graft court's resolution.

The councilor said Moreno's motion to quash was heard in Davao City Thursday last week.

"Gipahibalo ta sa ombudsman gahapon didto man pud si Beja nga gi-deny sa Sandiganbayan ang motion to quash ni Moreno,"Gan said.

Beja sued Moreno for allegedly spending P175,000 to lease a house for boxers under the CSDP, a contract that was entered into by the city government without the authorization from the city council.

Beja and Gan are both members of Padayon Pilipino led by ex-mayor Vicente Emano, and vocal critics of the Moreno administration.

Gan said the arraignment and the pre-trial is set on June 29.

"Sa pre-trial hisgutan ang issue sa kaso ug unsay evidences and pila ka witnesses. Sa trial na dayon ang presentation of evidences," Gan said.
