RDC Western Visayas AdCom meeting set

THE Regional Development Council Western Visayas (RDC-6) will convene its Advisory Committee (AdCom) at the Batasang Pambansa on May 29 to discuss the RDC endorsed budgets of regional agencies and state universities and colleges, as well as discuss matters related to priority legislative measures that will push the development of Western Visayas as provided for in the WV Regional Development Plan 2018-2022.

The RDC-6 AdCom is composed of the chairperson, co-chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, chair, and co-chairpersons of the RDC Sector Committees, the provincial governors, the mayors of the two highly urbanized cities, and all congressional representatives from Region 6.

RDC-6 Chairperson Rhodora Cadiao will preside the meeting hosted by Aklan Representative Carlito Marquez with Representatives Sharon Garin and Mercedes Alvarez as Lead Convenors for Panay/Guimaras and Negros Occidental, respectively, to ensure perfect attendance and full participation of their colleagues.

For this year’s AdCom, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade will be the resource persons to shed light on the major programs and projects of their respective departments for Region 6.

National Economic and Development Authority Assistant Secretary Mercedita Sombilla will give updates on the formulation of the Boracay Action Plan while Regional Director Ro-Ann Bacal will present the major programs and projects endorsed by the RDC-6 for the FY 2019 Budget Appropriation.

The meeting will be an occasion for the region’s congressional representatives to raise developmental issues needing immediate attention.

The annual AdCom meeting is regularly undertaken to foster closer collaboration between the executive branch, represented by the RDC-6, and the legislative branch, represented by the region’s legislators, to harmonize efforts among stakeholders in pursuing a common agenda and to resolve issues that are in the way of the region’s inclusive growth and sustained development.
