Meet the youngest barangay captain in Bacolod

THE youngest village chieftain in Bacolod City is from Barangay 26.

Jhun Mharby Orola, son of Councilor Bartolome Orola and nephew of City Administrator John Orola, said Friday, May 25, it’s his first to join in the politics.

“My family has been part of the politics, but I’m more on missionary than politicians. I decided to enter politics because I want to help our community and for me, it’s a God’s call, he said.

He added he has several plans for the improvement and development of Barangay 26.

Orola, who got 474 votes, defeated the wife of incumbent barangay captain Antonio Aros, who was in public service for almost 20 years, along with two other candidates.

Barangay 26 has a total of 1,500 voters.

“In the history of Barangay 26, I’m also youngest barangay captain,” Orola said.

Orola, a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management, has two brothers and one sister.

“After I finished college, my family sent me to the United States and become the member of the missionary group, where I served the community for almost a year, then I realized that I could not afford just stay in the US and let the country benefit my ability and leadership, so I decided to go home and serve my community,” Orola said.

He said in Bacolod City, he saw the situation of the children at the Social Development Center (SDC).

“When my father entered the politics, I’m always reminding him not to forget the children at SDC,” he added.

Orola noted that as soon as he will assume his post, he will do his best and will serve as a good example to his constituents.

He will celebrate his victory and birthday of his uncle John today. (MAP)
