Al-ag to consult Hugpong on 2019 political plans

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said that his political plans for the 2019 elections will depend on the local party, Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod.

Al-Ag in a media forum last week said he'll have to consult first with Hugpong.

"We still have to talk. Whatever my plan in 2019, you will know on October. October will be the filing of the certificate of candidacy," he said.

He added that he was under Hugpong when he first started his political career when he ran in 2010. He also remained in the same party in 2013 and 2016 elections.

"My point is I have not joined any party but the party of the (then mayor) President Rodrigo Duterte and the party of our mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio," he said.

One thing is sure, he still wants to serve as an elected official.

"I still do not know what position," he said.

Al-ag replaced former vice mayor Paolo Duterte last January after the latter expressed his intent to resign last December 25.

Duterte cited then that his resignation was due to family problems and the tagging of his name on the Bureau of Customs shabu shipment controversy.

Al-ag was able to succeed the vice mayoral post as he was the first councilor, the one who got the highest vote last election for councilor post.

He was supposed to be in last term as first district councilor but can still run for councilor this 2019 since he was not able to finish three terms as it was interrupted by his promotion as vice mayor. (KVC)
