THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is completing the Davao-Go-Duterte selection team that will banner Davao City's colors in the upcoming 2018 Kadayawan Festival Invitational Basketball Tournament this August against three UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) teams.
On Saturday, May 26, former De La Salle University coaching staff Miggy Solitaria and SBP executive program officer Ronel Leuterio conducted another set of tryouts that was participated by almost 30 Davao-based cagers at the Genesis 88 Gym.
The first set of tryouts was held last May 19-20 at the same venue.
Yesterday was the final selection and according to Solitaria, they will trim down numbers of aspirants and pick only the 18 most promising among others.
"We are looking for players who are relentless," Solitaria, adding that athletes should be coachable, has good character and disciplined.
SBP promises to provide monthly salary to the qualified athletes.
After the competition, the SBP management that will be headed by SBP regional director and board of trustee Glenn Escandor will assess the team if it could be ready for the next season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. (ABM)
