Marco Polo Davao executives wins Hotelier Award

MARCO Polo Davao bags two of the 17 top awards during the 2018 Hotelier Awards held in Sofitel Singapore bringing home the honor for Davao City and Philippines again after gaining recognition last year.

Francis Ledesma, Owner at Marco Polo Davao proudly took home the Owner Representative of the Year. Francis is a seasoned hotelier who has played the role of Owner Representative for more than 17 years. His diverse experience has helped Marco Polo Davao maintain its reputation for many years. He is known to be a kind leader who provides a lot of guidance and solutions to his team. He treats everyone with respect and he himself is very well respected.

The same recognition was given to Marco Polo Davao’s Chief Engineer Jeffrey Adlawan, as the Engineering Hotelier of the Year. His inspiring story rising above his visual impairment did not stop his desire to be a transformational leader and championing the hotel’s initiative on green and sustainable tourism, accessibility and innovation in the technical department. In just a short span of his tenure in Marco Polo Davao, he has created an impact not only to the hotel but to his team members and fellow leaders.

Together with them is the hotel’s General Manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin who was also a finalist for the GM’s category. Dottie who is also known as Davao’s Darling of the Press has been in Davao’s forefront for tourism and has been a key player in helping promote the city after the proclamation of Martial Law.

Last year, Marco Polo Davao’s Director Sales and Marketing Pearl Maclang brought the award for the Sales and Marketing Hotelier Award for 2017.

The Hotelier Awards prides itself on providing true recognition to the most talented and hardworking professionals that breathe life into a hotel, whilst also inspiring the younger generation to join this ever-growing industry.

As a benchmark for professional excellence in Asia, the awards have grown in prominence over the years to become an event one should not miss in the industry calendar.

The celebration brought together over 350 hoteliers and industry professionals, who gathered for the fifth edition.”
