NOTHING excites students more than gathering items they need for another school year. The thought of waking up before the rooster crows or having an alarm clock jolt them awake does not exactly thrill them, but toting new supplies is something they look forward to. This guide is meant to make starting the school year a cinch. Read on to know which essentials to shop for and where best to find them.

A trusty backpack

With a dozen books to bring plus all other school stuff, students feel like they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders—literally. If you have to, at least do it in style, and pick something durable, and one that has a large internal storage space with a number of compartments for your materials.

A clever lunchbox

Mealtime in school can be a total treat if you don’t have to deal with soggy chips, squashed sandwiches, or cold food. Choose a lunchbox that can keep your hot food items hot, and cold food items cold for several hours. One that is leak-proof and has dividers such as a bento lunchbox is ideal if you want variety in your meal.

Handy hand wipes

The simplest way to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases is through frequent handwashing. If there’s no access to a faucet, your best bet is to use sanitizing hand wipes. You can clean in one go without making a mess. It will leave your hands smelling fresh too.

A lightweight laptop

Portable computers give you the flexibility and freedom you need so you can work on those academic assignments—web-based or not—anytime, anywhere. Something light and less bulky is preferable.

A water bottle

Not all water bottles are created equal. Choose one that has an ergonomic top to avoid spillage, is big enough to hold at least a liter of liquid (stay hydrated!), and is easy to carry around along with your other things.

Slip-proof shoes

Slip-resistant school shoes are just as important as acing those exams. It doesn’t matter what year level you’re in, you have to find a pair that can take you from one classroom to another that’s located on the other side of the building, and to all the extracurricular activities you’re joining. Wear the right pair of shoes and you can conquer the world—or at least the school halls.
