Public safety office: Hasten construction of road projects

THE Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) will ask the Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to speed up the road constructions in Iloilo City following the opening of classes Monday, June 4.

PSTMO head Jeck Conlu said the delayed road projects will cause difficulties to motorists and commuters, especially the students.

He said they are currently conducting an inventory of the roads that are under rehabilitation and they will ask the DPWH to hold a 24-hour operation to finish them.

He said the road projects were set to be done before the opening of classes.

He said those roads near colleges, universities and public schools must be prioritized.

Conlu also said that they have started to repaint the pedestrian lanes in the city, as some of these were erased and hard to identify.

Aside from this, Conlu said the city has also been clearing roads of illegal structures since May. (SunStar Philippines)
