KEVIN Belingon finally gets another title shot and a chance to avenge his teammate Edward Folayang as he takes on two-division champion Martin Nguyen for the interim ONE bantamweight belt in the main event of ONE Championship - “Reign of Kings” on July 27 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Manila.
Belingon has been on a tear since failing his first attempt at the bantamweight belt two years ago to Bibiano Fernandes by submission.
The 30-year-old Belingon won his next five fights, beating Muin Gafurov, Toni Tauru, Reec McLaren, Kevin Chung and Andrew Leone.
Nguyen surged up to the top last year after winning titles in two divisions. The 29-year-old Nguyen targeted his third division crown against bantamweight champion Fernandes but lost by split decision. He, however, bounced back with a split decision over Christian Lee. Belingon is 18-5, while Nguyen is 11-2.
Also featured in the card are MMA legends Shinya Aoki and Renzo Gracie.
Aoki (40-8) takes on Thai Shannon Wiratchai (9-2), while Gracie (13-7-1) comes out of retirement to fight vetera n Yuki Kondo (59-34-9).
The 51-year-old Gracie hasn’t fought since losing to fellow MMA legend Matt Hughes in the UFC back in 2010. (EKA)
