MINGLANILLA kept its title hopes alive after a 72-65 victory over Argao in the South Division of the Governor’s Cup 2018 Basketball Tournament last Monday night in the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
Playing without their star point guard, Minglanilla felt a sense of urgency and stepped up against Argao.
With a three-point lead at halftime, Minglanilla outgunned Argao, 20-15, in the third quarter and kept the lead up until the final buzzer.
Marc Nebril and Clint Basitser led Minglanilla with 16 points each. Lyle Eredera added 12 and Ryzel Guilbuena chipped in 10.
Ericson Sangoyo had a huge game for Argao with 20 markers, while Nelson Lastomen contributed 10.
Talisay City, in the meantime, went unbeaten with a 99-70 beating of Sibonga.
Jay Dieparine was Talisay City’s top scorer with 22 points, while Kendrick Abarquez and Ronan Briones added 14 each.
John Bryle Cuyos had a game high 28 points for Sibonga, while Gerald Ignacio and Ehman Ronen had 10 apiece. (EKA)
