CEBU Provincial Police Office Director Manuel Javier Abrugena said they received reports that slain police officer Jonathan Tilos was a friend of self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones.

He confirmed that Tilos was included in the government's narco-list.

He further said they already have a person of interest.

Tilos was reportedly a batchmate of Senior Inspector Raymond Hortezuela, who was killed in a drug bust in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City, Cebu last Sunday, June 10. Both of them entered the police service in 2006.

Investigators, however, are looking into personal grudge as one of the motives behind the attack, Abrugena said.

The police official said they will look into the reports that Tilos was separated from his wife and had several affairs.

He further said Tilos's alleged involvement in illegal drugs may have to do with the murder.

Tilos was reportedly one of the close-in bodyguard of former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama during the latter's term.

Abrugena said they will also look into it.

Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Director Debold Sinas had instructed Abrugena to dig deep into the incident. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
