Duterte to meet 2,022 elected NorMin village chiefs

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to meet the 2,022 newly-elected village chiefs in Northern Mindanao at a mall in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, June 25.

Provincial director Edward Bahgwani of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said all incoming barangay captains in the region were already informed of the dialogue called by the president.

He said the president is making rounds of visit to all regions in the country to talk with the top leaders of the barangay.

“Walay labot mga mayors ani mga kapitan lang gyud (Mayors are not included, only the barangay captains). Series of visits murag prior ani sa ato is Region 7 ang President (prior to Northern Mindanao, he was in Region 7),” Bahgwani said.

He said the president is expected to reiterate the programs of his administration like the campaign against illegal drugs, among others.

Baghwani said they are expecting that all village executives would attend the whole activity.

He said the president may only speak in the afternoon but the interior department has included in the agenda the discussion on the various programs of the DILG.

“Si President basin mga hapon na iyang part, pero whole day ang activity kay ipahibalo pud sa mga kapitan ang mga programa sa DILG nga para pud sa katawhan (The President’s part will be in the afternoon, but the activity will be whole day wherein the barangay captains will be made aware of the programs of the DILG which is for the public),” Bahgwani said.

“Unta tanan kapitan mo-attend. Kung walay rason nga dili katunga motambong gyud sila gawas kung naa gyud gibati (I hope all the barangay captains will attend. If they have no reason not to attend, they should be there unless something wrong happened to them),” he added.
