HONORED. I’m deeply honored to have received six compact discs from no less than international concert pianist Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria. The gesture is deeply and truly appreciated simply because Santamaria is one distinguished personality in the music world. I look up to her as a giant in the music scene, somebody that we, her fellow Cebuanos, can truly be proud of here and abroad.
AMAZING. All six albums contain amazing romantic piano concertos that Santamaria professionally recorded with the Manila Symphony Orchestra. Prof. Arturo Molina was the conductor. I understand that this is the very first time that such professional recording of the six albums happened after her more than 50 years of playing classical music.
TESTAMENT. To quote musician/writer Jeffrey Solares, “The series of Romantic Piano Concerto recordings by Santamaria is no ordinary feat. The manner by which this project was completed is a testament to the prodigious, consummate artistry of a Filipino concert artist.”
FESTIVAL. I should congratulate all those behind the successful staging of this year’s Hinulawan Festival in Toledo City, Cebu. Special mention goes to Councilor Joie Perales for making things possible in just two weeks. Festival artistic director Marvey Caño also deserves a big hand.
