Pangan: Reconciliation and dialogue net peace

SQUABBLES, armed conflicts and strifes and all irritants among nations can be solved through peaceful and orderly dialogues which result to unification and reconciliation.

This assertion proves true in the Korean peninsula conflict where several years have passed since it was divided into North and South and the victors in the Korean war of 1950 have since arrogated unto themselves the spoiks of war.

Much earlier, the Berlin wall, a testament of harsh division among German states, was splintered and brought down and the two divided German states were united into one Germany.

History is replete with accounts of war atrocities and divisions and over time the quarrelling nations have regained their moral uprightness and agreed to work for peace and unification.

Separated families once again met and mingled with other sectors of once divided nations. Such is the harsh judgement of history, from which we should learn costly lessons: that war never produces a real victor, only separated individuals.

The U.S.-North Korea summit held this month of the year in a neutral place, Singapore, is yet one of history's defining moments and would lead to peace and unification in the region and in maximum progress and prosperity in the Korean peninsula.

All the animosities, barbs, tirades and insults committed by both sides will be buried forever and a historic handshake will seal the unification process, accompanied by the signing of agreements and various pledges.

And we in the Philippines are agitated observers, knowing fully well that we will also benefit from the unification. We expect our trade to obtain a big boost, more employment opportunities will be made available to our countrymen.

Trump, however, is a world bully.
