THE Formative Sports Commission will kick off its first of many upcoming sports tournaments with 1st Formative Cup 2018 Inter-Company and Inter-Subdivision Basketball Tournament on June 24 in the Formative School in Liloan.

“Filipinos love basketball so much,” said Formative School owner Lemuel Lapingcao of the Formative Sports Commission’s reason for putting up a basketball tournament as its first major sports event for this year. “We tried chess, badminton and volleyball but basketball is more attractive. We also aim to hold tournaments in other sports.”

The 1st Formative Cup has three divisions – Inter-Company, Under-21 and Under-17.

Formative School will field a team in the Under-17 division as part of the school’s goal to be at par with the best in the district.

“Our goal for our basketball team is to be one of the outstanding teams in the district meet. We want to begin as early as now,” said Lapingcao.

A total of seven teams have signed up for the Under-17 division, while the Under-21 division still has five teams.

Registration, however, is still open.

The Inter-Company division has the biggest number of participating teams, as of now, with 17. (EKA)
