City gov’t sets inauguration of 2 school buildings

THE Zamboanga City Government is set to inaugurate and turn over on Wednesday, June 20, two climate-resilient school buildings in this city.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the recipients of the two school buildings of two-story eight-classroom each are the Cabaluay National High School and Cabaluay Elementary School.

Salazar said that each of the school buildings costs P14.8 million.

The chief executive said these are the first two of the 21 school buildings that feature Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) measures and interventions constructed in different villages.

Salazar said the other school buildings of the same specification will be inaugurated on later dates.

She said the new design for school buildings is a product of the creativity of Architectural Division of the City Engineer’s Office.

She said that all 21 school buildings are constructed with “tall steep roofs, high ceiling and large windows for ventilation, easy to clean granite floor tiles, durable steel doors, Person with Disability-friendly ramps, decent comfort rooms and comfort rooms for the differently abled,” and are compliant with the provisions of Batasan Pambansa 344.

She said the construction of the new school buildings is in line with the city government’s unrelenting commitment to education. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
